Recently, a new product called the Fire Safety Stick came onto the market, which looks like a big improvement on existing extinguishers. It works in a different way to conventional designs and performs in a similar way to the now banned Halon extinguishers. In simple terms, it works by grabbing the oxygen from the air before the fire is able to burn it, therefore smothering the fire. As we all know, TVRs can be quite combustible once on fire, and the tight areas of the engine bay bring their own challenges. The Fire Stick produces a gas, which is heavier than air and will fill all the voids not directly accessible, hopefully both putting out a fire and preventing a re-flash.
